To register a birth it is necessary to follow these steps:

• The father and/or the mother must prove their Chilean nationality

• The minor must be born in the United States of America. Parents must present his/her birth certificate issued by the responsible authority (City Hall)

• Parents that were married in Chile must bring their “Family Book” (Libreta de Familia) or their marriage certificate

• If parents are not married, it is convenient that both appear in person at the Consulate to register the birth and to sign the respective book This way the minor will be registered in Chile as recognized by both parents The parents must present their respective passports

• The cost of this service is US$ 5.
