The consulate registers birth, marriage, death, and other acts and contracts related to the civil status of Chilean residents in foreign countries for the effects of Civil Registration law (excepting the case of acting as civil officer to perform or celebrate a marriage). The consulate also makes these registrations with respect to the Law of Recruitment.
